In May of 2003 I flew to Seattle in route to climbing Mount Hood, the tallest mountain in the state of Oregon. I climbed with Timberline Mountain Guides. I was “lucky” enough to be the sole client for a four day expedition seminar. My guide and instructor for the seminar was Bob Lehman. Bob of course was quite knowledgeable, easy to get along with and his culinary skills were par-excellent. We Spent three days on the lower slopes of Mt. Hood, just above the ski lifts, overlooking snowboard half pipes. During this time we went over such things as glacier travel, self arrest, crevasse rescue, various anchors, and a lot more. On our last day on Mt. Hood we made our way up to the summit reaching the top just about the same time as the sun rise. It was an excellent trip. If you are interested in learning more about mountain climbing and the day to day life of an expedition, I highly recommend doing so with Timberline Mountain Guides. This page and the links on it will serve as my trip report, slide show and my photo album. The squares above are links. Each page has an mp3 that will play while you look at the slide for a true to the word, slide show experience. Please make sure that you have Apple’s QuickTime installed. Or if you’d rather not hear my nasally voice you might want to leave off with the QuickTime. And to those of you who have already installed it, I apologize. |
